Burnettown is located between the City of North Augusta and the City of Aiken in Aiken County, South Carolina...chartered as a town in June 1941 (History of Burnettown). The town now covers approximately six square miles and has between five and six thousand citizens. There are three public schools in town, Midland Valley High School, LBC Middle School and Jefferson Elementary School. There are three parks in town for the enjoyment of area citizens. There are two major highways that run through town, US HWY 1 and SC HWY 421, in addition to several state and county roads. There are several businesses including banks, shops and restaurants. The town's population continues to grow. The town has a water department, a parks and recreation department and a police department. Each year the town holds and sponsors numerous events, the largest being the Sassafras Festival held yearly the first weekend in October.
